Community Screenings

Thank you for your interest in our work

As part of our commitment to spurring the growth of the localization movement, we encourage individuals and local groups to organize public screenings of the film. Community screenings tend to be very productive and informative events. Many communities incorporate open discussion, potluck, planning, or talks from leaders of local initiatives.

Our policy for community screenings is to charge $100 per public screening, plus a portion of ticket sales or donations (if admission is "by donation").

We can't make the film available for free or else our ability to survive as an organization will be threatened. Producing The Economics of Happiness took 5 years and far more funds than we were able to raise. In order to continue our work, we need to earn what we can from screenings of the film -- these revenues are among our main means of support.

However, we do try to be flexible, recognizing that people in different parts of the world -- even in different parts of the same region -- can differ widely in their ability to pay to see a film. If you are interested in organizing a public screening, please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We're also here to make sure your event goes well. We've helped groups organize over 250 screenings of The Economics of Happiness, and are happy to guide you through the process. We also have resources to help you publicize and promote your event. Some of our resources, including movie posters, a press kit, and an event organizer kit, are on the bottom portion of this page.

Thank you.
